Demolishion has started

The Rotterdam CS building that was designed by architect Sybold van Ravesteyn (1889- 1983), having been staying there for 50 years, now have started to be demolished, to be ready for development of new building as part of the renovation project of the Rotterdam CS and its surrounding area , which would cost about 558 Million Euro. The would-be-a new modern Rotterdam CS renovation project would integrate all public tranportation mode system: train, tram, bus, and taxi. The building would be dominated with glass element, symbolising the openness of Rotterdam to both the visitors and the inhabitants. The new Rotterdam CS area would provide more space for business/service activity such as restaurants, cafés, shops and hotels.

The demolishion process started on 16 January 2008 ,with simple official ceremony, and it will take about six weeks to finish clearing the ground. So the old building would have been disappeared by end of February. Then you could expect a new Rotterdam CS area by 2011 according to the plan.
